ATLANTA - Liberty's Darius McGhee and Jacksonville State's Peyton Daniels earned the ASUN Conference Men's Basketball weekly honors, announced by the league office on Monday. McGhee reached the milestone of 2,000 career points over the weekend and earned his sixth Player of the Week honor. Daniels was named Newcomer of the Week for the first time after recording the first three double-digit scoring performances of his career.
ATLANTA – The final set of ASUN Conference Women's Basketball weekly awards for November was sent out on Monday afternoon by the league office, and KayKay Hayes of Jacksonville was named the Player of the Week. She was joined by Kierra Prim of Central Arkansas (Newcomer) and Gracie Merkle of Bellarmine (Freshman) as honorees. Hayes averaged 24.5 points and 8.5 rebounds for her first Player of the Week accolade while helping the Dolphins to a 2-0 stretch. Prim heard her name called for the second-straight edition after registering a season-high 24 points while pulling down a career-best 18 rebounds against Hendrix, while Merkle compiled 18 points and 11 rebounds (Georgia State) with 11 tallies and 10 boards (Cleveland State) to secure her second selection of the year as well.
LYNCHBURG, Va. (liberty.edu/flames) - The Liberty volleyball team continues its breakthrough season, as the Lady Flames have been selected to compete in the 2022 National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC). Liberty will host first and second round matches on Saturday and Sunday at Liberty Arena. The Lady Flames will take on Western Carolina (18-12) at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The winner of that match will take on the winner of Clemson (13-17) and Toledo (18-12) on Sunday at 4 p.m.
ATLANTA – Sunday play within ASUN Conference Women's Basketball resulted in three more positive outcomes on the hardwood after FGCU, Jacksonville and Stetson reeled in victories. The Eagles wrapped up their trip to Hawaii by holding off an upset-minded Grambling State squad, 73-67, the Dolphins proved to be too strong for Bethune-Cookman in a 13-point decision (75-62) and the Hatters opened the afternoon by holding Albany to just five points in the fourth quarter to win, 61-40.
