Week Four of Men's #ASUNXC Showcases JSU & Queens at the Queen City Invite

2022 ASUN Conference Men's Cross Country Schedule


ATLANTA - Two squads continue the 2022 ASUN Conference Men's Cross Country season this weekend with Jacksonville State and Queens both competing at the Queen City hosted by the Royals Invite on Friday. 

Five teams were mentioned in the latest USTFCCCA Regional Rankings as North Florida and Lipscomb came in at fifth and 14th, respectively in the South Region. Central Arkansas represented the league in the South Central Region coming in at seventh. Liberty and Eastern Kentucky were ranked ninth and 10th, respectively, in the Southeast.

- The Govs are set to take a week off from the action before returning to the course on Oct. 7 to compete in their second-to-last meet of the regular season at the Brescia Invitational

Bellarmine
Next Race:
 vs. Live in Louisville Classic (10/1; Louisville, Ky.) 
- Paul Stamm recorded an 8K time of 24:26.93 at the North Alabama Showcase to earn the third-best 8K time in Bellarmine program history; Stamm finished 37th in the field of 366 individuals 
- Bellarmine returns to Louisville to host the Live In Louisville Classic from E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park at its next outing on Oct. 1 

Central Arkansas
Next Race:
at Arkansas Chili Pepper Festival (9/30; Fayetteville, Ark.)
- At the UCA XC Challenge, Central Arkansas took home a first-place finish as a team in the field of three while 11 individuals set new personal records at the event
- UCA's Julian Haessner took home first place overall in the squad's last outing at the UCA XC Challenge with his 5K time of 14:28.1

Eastern Kentucky
Next Race: 
at Joe Piane Invite (9/30; South Bend, Ind.)
- The Colonels recorded a seventh-place team finish in the field of 37 teams at the North Alabama Showcase last weekend; EKU placed the highest of any ASUN team at the event
- After a week off from the action, Eastern Kentucky is set to return to the course on Sept. 30 at the Joe Piane Invite hosted by Notre Dame 

FGCU
Next Race:
 at FSU Invitational (10/7; Tallahassee, Fla.)
- Last week's action saw FGCU's Osman Humeida set a new 8K program record with his finish time of 24:01.60 that he recorded at the North Alabama Showcase
- Humeida became the seventh individual in Eagles' program history to earn the ASUN Runner of the Week accolade after his 11th place finish in Huntsville

Jacksonville
Next Race: 
at FSU Invitational (10/7; Tallahassee, Fla.)
- At the Embry-Riddle XC Classic, Jacksonville finished 12th in the 15-team field while Kody Everett crossed the line first for the Dolphins with his 8K time of 30:25.64
- Jacksonville finishes off the season with two meets in the State of Florida beginning with the FSU Invitational on Oct. 7 in Tallahassee

Jacksonville State
Next Race: 
at Queen City Invite (9/23; Charlotte, N.C.)
- Jack Lowe clocked the fastest time for the Gamecocks at the North Alabama Showcase last weekend with his 8K finish of 25:30.39
- Jacksonville State takes part in the second-to-last meet of the regular season this weekend in Charlotte at the Queen City Invite hosted by fellow league member Queens

Kennesaw State
Next Race:
 at Live in Louisville Classic (10/1; Louisville, Ky.) 
- Gavin Frick was the Owls' top finisher at the North Alabama Showcase last weekend placing 79th with an 8K time of 24:55.11; Frick has now led the Owls in both of their meets this season
- Kennesaw State takes a week off before competing at the Live in Louisville Classic on Oct. 1 for their second-to-last meet of the regular season

Liberty
Next Race:
 at Joe Piane Invite (9/30; South Bend, Ind.)
- In their first road meet of the season, the Flames came out on top with a first-place team and individual finish; Nicholas Kiprotich took home the individual honors with his 8K time of 24:11.0
- At the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational, Kiprotich became Liberty's first individual champion since Felix Kandie won the FGCU Invitational title in 2019

Lipscomb
Next Race:
 at Gans Creek Classic (9/30; Columbia, Mo.)
- Scott McKenzie placed second overall at the Trevecca Michael Pretorius Memorial Invitational as he guided the Bisons to their first event win of the season 
- Lipscomb takes a week off before returning to action on Sept. 30 to take part in the Gans Creek Classic hosted by Missouri 

North Alabama
Next Race:
 at Live in Louisville Classic (10/1; Louisville, Ky.) 
- For the third-straight week, UNA's Evan Allen broke his own school record as he ran an 8K time of 24:11.73 at the North Alabama Showcase to finish 23rd in the field of 360 individuals
- The Lions travel to Louisville to compete at the  Live in Louisville Classic for their first meet on the road of the season on Oct. 1

North Florida
Next Race:
 Gans Creek Classic (9/30; Columbia, Mo.)
- At UNF's season opener in the North Florida Invitational, the Ospreys finished first out of six teams at the event with Aidan O'Gorman taking home the top individual performance
- North Florida is set to take a week off from the action before returning to the course on Sept 30 to compete in its second to the last meet of the regular season

Queens
Next Race:
 vs. Queen City Invite (9/23; Charlotte, N.C.)
- Mitch Cox represented the Royals in their last outing at the North Alabama Showcase as he placed 35th with an 8K time of 24:25.22
- Queens is set to finish out its first regular season of ASUN action with two consecutive home meets beginning with the Queen City Invite on Friday and concluding with the Royals Challenge on Oct. 7

Stetson
Next Race: 
at FSU Invitational (10/7; Tallahassee, Fla.)
- Stetson placed fourth in its season opener as Parker Hines led the way with his 10th-place finish and 5K time of 16:00.3
- Freshman Luke Danison placed second for Stetson in the opening meet as it marked his collegiate debut; Danison posted a finish time of 16:24.7
