CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (lipscombsportscom) – Ignited by a pair of early goals, the Bisons welcomed Austin Peay to the ASUN Conference with a 2-1 victory Saturday night in Clarksville.

The Bisons started the game on the front foot and commanded possession early. It was just 2:23 into the match when the Govs were whistled for a foul in the box. Junior Kelli Belier made them pay as she buried one past the keeper to give Lipscomb a 1-0 advantage.

Just a few minutes later, the purple and gold doubled its lead when Shelby Craft found the net from inside the goal box.

Alivia Carapazza rocketed a ball off the crossbar from 35 yards out when Craft took the rebound just in front of the net and slotted it home to give Lipscomb a 2-0 lead at the 12:01 mark.

Austin Peay had trouble all night finding lanes through the Bisons defense, but it was able to get on the board on the kickoff to start the second half, when somehow the ball got past the defense and keeper CJ Graham.

Lipscomb had other chances in the second half, but was unable to cash them in, but they held on for the win to open conference play.
