Dolphins Earn Point With 0-0 Tie


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (judolphins.com) The Jacksonville women's soccer program picked up a critical point late in the regular-season, tying 0-0 with Jacksonville State at Southern Oak Stadium Tuesday afternoon.
 
A defensive battle for both teams, the Dolphins (5-4-5, 2-4-3) nearly got on the board early for the second consecutive match, as Anaya Black's shot attempt in the sixth minute was saved.
 
In the 22nd minute, the Gamecocks would have their lone shot on goal in the contest, however JU goalkeeper Murphy Sheaff would halt the attempt.
 
Dolphin shot attempts by Black in the 33rd minute and Selma Fohrer in the 36th minute would be stopped by Jacksonville State, as the score would remain at zero-all entering the half.
 
In the second half, the Dolphins had their best scoring opportunity late in the contest, as Fohrer's attempt would be stopped.
 
In the end, the Dolphins would collect a point in the conference standings, with just one regular-season match remaining on the calendar.
 
The defensive effort for Jacksonville, was the sixth shutout for the 'Phin defense this season.
 
Jacksonville closes out the regular season this Saturday, heading to North Alabama for a 2 PM match.
