ATLANTA – With the 2022 ASUN Conference Volleyball season approaching, we preview each of the 14 conference squads in preparation for the 38th season of ASUN Volleyball. Jacksonville was selected to finish 12th in the Preseason Coaches Poll as the Dolphins enter year three of the Johnson regime.
The team collected victories against UNCW on all three occasions the programs lined up against each other and then notched an ASUN win in Tennessee against Bellarmine in five sets (3-2). Kyndaal Stansberry is back after posting 150 kills in 2021, which was good for second on the team. The Las Vegas native was one of seven JAX student-athletes to hit the 100-plus kill plateau on the year. Additionally, the Dolphins were fifth in the league last year with 165 service aces (91 of them coming in ASUN play).
JU heads west to open its newest campaign at North Texas and UTRGV on Aug. 26, and will then follow up with UNLV one day later before coming home to host back-to-back invitationals in September for a total of six matchups. The Trojan Invitational in Alabama is the final tune-up for ASUN play (Sept. 16-17) before the club begins league competition at home inside Swisher Gymnasium against Stetson (Sept. 23) and defending ASUN Champion FGCU on Sept. 24. A two-contest road swing then follows against newcomer Austin Peay (Sept. 30) and Lipscomb (Oct. 1).
