ATLANTA - All 14 ASUN Conference Volleyball teams are in action as the 38th season of play begins Friday morning. Eastern Kentucky and Lipscomb open at home while the remaining teams open their season away from their home arenas.

The 2022 season sees the addition of two new programs as Austin Peay and Queens compete in their inaugural ASUN Volleyball seasons. Last fall FGCU (27), Jacksonville State (25), North Florida (25) and Kennesaw State (20) each recorded at least 20 wins with four other teams (Eastern Kentucky, Liberty, Lipscomb, Stetson) also earning double-digit victories.

North Florida at No. 15 Florida | Aug. 26 | 7 PM
Coming off the program's best season in its Division I history, North Florida opens its 2022 campaign on the road against the 15th-ranked Gators. Florida earned three victories in the 2021 NCAA Tournament picking up wins against South Alabama, Florida A&M and #24 Miami (Fla.).

What to Watch For

  • Both Austin Peay and Queens are seeking the first-ever wins for their schools as members of the ASUN Conference.
  • Bellarmine's Rick Nold and North Alabama's Tristan Johnson are both looking for their first win in their inaugural seasons with their squads.
  • Jacksonville State's Katie Montgomery enters the week three blocks shy of 250 career rejections; Stetson's Elena Djokovic needs two blocks to reach 100.

- Taylor Mott, who led Austin Peay's volleyball team to its second NCAA tournament appearance in 2017, begins her 11th season as the Govs' head coach.
- Mikayla Powell is back on the right side after finishing second on the team last year with 317 kills while boasting a hitting percentage of .313.

- Nold and company will look to the leadership of the upperclassmen as the Knights will field six seniors and two juniors this coming year.
- Jayme Scott is back after she led the club with 312 kills (3.12 kills per set) in 28 matches last season.

- The Colonels did finish 5-4 on their home floor inside McBrayer Arena and they look to improve in all areas with a squad that features nine upperclassmen on the roster.
- The dynamic duo of outside hitters Molly Michalak and Sarah Mitchell both went over 350 kills with 358 and 354, respectively.

- The Eagles also claimed three-straight sets against Texas Tech to upend the Red Raiders, 3-2 (14-25, 15-25, 25-23, 25-15, 15-7), in NCAA play to tie the program record for single-season wins.
- Erin Shomaker, the two-time reigning ASUN Player of the Year, was again selected as the Preseason Player of the Year while teammate Chelsey Lockey was voted Preseason Setter of the Year.

- The team collected victories against UNCW on all three occasions the programs lined up against each other and then notched an ASUN win in Tennessee against Bellarmine in five sets last season.
- Kyndaal Stansberry is back after posting 150 kills in 2021, which was good for second on the team and was one of seven Dolphins to hit the 100-kill plateau.
- Additionally, the Dolphins were fifth in the league last year with 165 service aces (91 of them coming in ASUN play).

- The middle blocker returns to the lineup after leading the squad in kills last year with 262 as she was one of three student-athletes for Brandon Rosenthal to hit the 200-plus score mark in 2021.
- Addi Pelham, a Lenexa, Kan., native, was third on the roster with 203 kills last year for the Bisons.
